ゆ黔婁。日本の書籍や彫刻では夜空を見上げて星に祈る場面が多いですが、中国の書籍では父の部屋の外で便のテイスティング（？）しているところを見かけます。

To Taste Manure Caused Heart-Grief
Yu Chien Lon of the South Chi State seaved(served?)
as the magistrate to Ch'ang Lin District. Less
than ten days after taking ove(over?) charge, owing
to s sudden attack of heart-palpitation and
sweat-flowing disease, he forsook his post and
returned.
Meanwhile, his father contractea(contracted?) an illness
only for two days, but the doctor advised him
that to ascertain the symptom of the disease,
light or serious, the patient's manure must be
tasted; and that if it is tasted bitter the condit-
ion was better.
When Chien Lou tried the tasting, it wat(was?)
smeet(sweet?) instead of bitter, which made his heari(heart?)
grievous. Down to that eve, he hnelt(knelt?) down for
prayer before the North Pola God, entreating
that he would die for his fathur(father?).

南斉の時ゆ黔婁といへる人は せん陵県といへる所の奉行になり はじめてかの縣に到り 十日もたたざるに にはかに むなさはぎして身より汗を出しければ そくじに官を捨てて 我が家にかへりぬ時に ゆ黔婁が父大きに悩む事 二日になりたり 医者のいへるは病のよしあしをしらんとならば 病人の糞を嘗めてみよ 糞苦くはよからんといふ
黔婁父の糞を嘗むるに 味甘ければ 大きにこれをうれひ さて夜になりて 北辰の星をいのり わが身父にかはりて 死せん事を告げいのりしとなり
