Renouncing Officialdom but Looking Around for His Mother

When seven years old, Chu Shou Chang of
the Sung dynasty departed from his own
mother, who was compelled to get remarried
because of his legal mother's jealousy. Then
fifty years had elapsed before both mother and
son saw again each other.
In the reign of Sheng Tsung, he gave up his
official life and started for the state of Tsing
seeking here and there for his own wother(mother?). On
bidding farewell to his family, he pledged an
oath that he would never return again unless
he found his own mother.
After his arrival at Tungbhow, he found his
mother who was then upwards of seventy years
of age.

宋は国の名　朱は姓　壽昌は名　うみの母劉氏は父の妾なり　本妻に妬まれ　朱家を出て外に嫁したり　壽昌七歳の時母にわかれてより　五十年母にあはず　神宗といへるは　帝の諡（をくりな）なり　この時官位を捨てて秦の国に行き　母をたつねんとするに　在ものとちかつていへるは　我母にめぐりあはずは　ふたたび帰るまじとて　出行けるが　秦の国の内にいたりて　うみの母劉氏にあひたり　此時母七十餘にてありしとなり次とは至るといふに同じ
