Oranges Hidden Away for Mother
Loh Chi of the later Han dynasty was at stx(six?)
years of age brought to Kiukiang to visit Yuan
Shu, who gave him some oranges to eat. He kept
two of them away. When bouing(bowing?) to bid fare-
well to Yuan for homeward journey, the hidden
oranges fell down to the ground, "Why you are
queit(quiet?), Master Loh", said Yuan Shu smiling;
"how can you keep oranges for your self?"
"As they are my mother's favourite fruit"
answered the boy by kneeling down, "So I am
beinging(bringing?) them home for her."
At this, Ynan(Yuan) Shu greatly admired him.

懐橘遺親「橘を懐にして親に遺（おく）る」
後漢の末に陸績 六歳の時九江郡の 袁術といへるものの家にいたりけるに 袁術橘を出してもてなす 陸績橘ふたつをふところに入けるが 帰らんとして礼をなさんとする時 ふところの橘地に落ちたり 袁術これを見て陸郎は人の客となりて橘を懐に入られしやとはづかしめければ 績ひざまづきこたへていへるは たちばなはわが母のうまれつきて好みたまへるものなれば 帰て母におくらんために ふところにせりといひければ 袁術大きに 奇とし感じけるとぞ
